China assures Liberia military support

China says it will try to help the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) with its overall development by providing more support and assistance to further enhance the traditional friendship with Liberia.

“We will continue to cooperate on military personnel training, in the future, we wish to inject impetus to the long – term development of this good relationship,” a top Chinese military official in Liberia said Friday, 20 July at the 91st anniversary of the People Liberation Army (PLA) of China.

According to the Chinese military official, in the past China – Liberia military relations have been growing steadily, saying the Ministry of National Defense of China will provide AFL with medical equipment and medicine.

He hopes that the supply will arrive in Liberia later this year.The Chinese military official recalls that during the first ever China – Africa Defense and Security held forum from 26 June to 10 July 2018 in Beijing, China was very much honored to have invited Liberia’s female Deputy Chief of Staff of AFL Brigadier Geraldine Janet George to attend.

“Among the 49 African delegates that attended the forum, she was the only female general, which many people felt unbelievable,” he says.According to him, the forum aimed to deepen the China – Africa comprehensive strategic partnership, promote building a shared future for China and Africa, and meet the needs of Africa’s new security situations and China – Africa defense cooperation.

On 10 July, the concluding day of the event, he says Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe met with the delegates, expressed that China and Africa will remain good friends, good partners and good brothers forever.
