Citizens unhappy over Weah’s appointment

Some Residents of Bong County have expressed serious disenchantment over the appointment of CDC Women Wing Chair Madam Esther Walker as Superintendent of the County.


Madam Esther Walker was recently appointed by President George Mannah Weah as Superintendent according to the State own media ELBC.
The reported appointment has brought serious disillusionment to some people in the county on grounds that Madam Walker does not have the pedigree to adequately serve the County’s top position.

According to them, Madam Walker will serve the post in her interest and her will to seek development in Bong County will be very narrow.
The residents some of whom refused to be identified in this article stated that they were promised by the Bong newest Superintendent during the 2014 senatorial election about the provision of loans for petit business traders but up to present, they are yet to receive the loans Madam Walker promised.

Madam Walker who worked in the office of then Senator Jewel Howard Taylor, now vice President, also served as Gbarnga City Mayor during the regime of jailed Liberia former President Charles G. Taylor in 2002.
Her days at the Gbarnga City Cooperation (GCC) is said to have been a day of underdevelopment for Gbarnga according to Pa. Moses G. Dargeh a seventy eight year old man who currently lives in Kpaii District.

The residents also said any attempt to confirm Madam Walker as Superintendent for Bong County, the Liberia central region county will become worst in terms of Development.

When contacted, Madam Walker described those speculating her lacking pedigree, as detractors adding that she will make them shame by proving them wrong.

There are some people from upper Bong who strongly believe that Madam Esther Walker is capable of serving the post to the expectations of the people of Bong County evidenced by her recent published profile.

According to the profile, Madam Esther Walker is a trained agriculturalist from Booker Washington Institute (BWI) .She also obtained specialize training in rubber culture from Malaysia, South-East Asia  Her first job following graduation from BWI was with the Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC) in Margibi County in the 80s,

She came to political prominence when ex-president Charles Taylor appointed her as the first female mayor of Gbarnga in 2002 replacing now President of the Liberia National Red Cross Society Jerome Clarke.

Madam Walker managed the municipality of Gbarnga from 2002-2005 when she was relieved of her post by late Interim President Charles Gyude Bryant and replaced by Esther Warbey . It was during the leadership of Esther Walker that mobile phone companies ( Libercell, Cellcom and Lone Star) came to Gbarnga in early 2005.
