Civil Society Actor Blasts Resignation Campaigners

Calls to unseat President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has been described as unfair and un-timed. Mr. George Johnson further said that they were not timely, and must be immediately abandoned.

According to the Regional Civil Society boss, the two other branches of the Liberian Government should be engaged constructively, if only one of the branches was not actively performing, instead of demanding the undemocratic removal of the President. He argued that the call for the President to step down was worrisome, troublesome and unthinkable as Liberia’s peace was still fragile.

The Regional CSO boss said, if citizens believed that the entire government has massively failed, the Liberian people as such, should step down; instead of requesting the President alone to step down.  Johnson believed that the campaign lacks procedures, suggesting that the campaigners should have channeled their grievances through the Legislature.
