Coach Chibly hopeful of championship despite defeat

Fassell Head CoachFC Fassell Head Coach Sam Chibly

The head coach of FC Fassell Sam Chibly is still optimistic winning the champion’s title of the Liberia Football Association or LFA national league after Nimba United ended their unbeaten record in the ongoing 2016 National League.

According to coach Chibly, losing to Nimba United FC for the first time in this year’s league does not mean the league is over because his team still has games to play. He said in the game of football the best team takes the day, but it is very disappointing to have fallen to Nimba United at the start of the league.

He however said, the title race is still on and every club has its attention fixed at the title, including FC Fassell with the hope of capturing the champions’ title. Speaking after the match with Nimba United, coach Chibly said his team is one of the best clubs in the National League and the defeat does not take him off because his players are ready to reach the top.

FC Fassell hope of closing the gap on Barrack Young Controller (BYC) at the top of the LFA First Division League was dashed after a 1-0 defeat to title rival Nimba United at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in

Monrovia.

The victory earned Nimba United 11 points from six games, which enabled them to move to fourth spot on the league table. Kossi Adetus’ goal came in the 53rd minute after he intercepted a missed directed pass from Fassell’s goalkeeper Sampson Giddings.

The defeat left FC Fassell with four points from eight games, sitting 17th place on the league table behind league leaders BYC1 with 21 points and two more games to play. This win is Nimba United’s first victory against FC Fassell in the past three years.
