Committee to probe Violence
– As Justice Minister appears at capitol
Justice Minister Benedict F. Sannoh has constituted an Independent Investigative Committee to comprehensively probe circumstances surrounding the death of motorcyclist Alfred Tarnue, Jr. In Paynesville.
A statement issued on Monday said the investigation will also include the destruction of Police Depots, as well as physical attacks on Police Officers, with the view of identifying the perpetrators to face justice.
The Committee comprised representatives of the Liberia National Bar Association, Civil Society, Independent National Human Rights Commission, Inter-Religious Council, City Corporation of Paynesville and Ministry of Justice.
“I am also pleased to inform the general public, including the family of the late Alfred Tarnue, Jr., that I have today concluded arrangements for a Pathologist from Accra, Ghana to conduct an autopsy and forensic examination of the body with the view of ascertaining the cause of his death,” Sannoh noted.
The statement quoted the Justice Minister as disclosing that the Pathologist arrived in Monrovia on Wednesday, April 22, and that the examination will be conducted as soon as possible thereafter.
He pointed out that members of the Investigation Committee and the family of the deceased were invited to attend the exercise.

The Justice Minister reiterated that the “no-go-zones” imposed on the riding of motorcycles, including ELWA Junction to Paynesville Red Light, and From Paynesville Red Light to Duport Bridge; Redlight to Gardnerville; and from Paynesville Red Light to Mount Barclay, remains in enforced.
Meanwhile, the Justice Minister has written both Houses of the Legislature for his appearance at their will to inform them about the unfolding saturation in the country.
However, the Liberian Senate has sent the communication to its Committee on the Judiciary to report to plenary in one week, while the House of Representatives has endorsed the communication, asking the Minister to appear today, Thursday, April 23, 2015.
