CU faculty demands audit of suspended president

The Cuttington University Faculty Association (CUFA) is calling for an immediate audit of the tenure of suspended president Dr. Hermon Browne. Our Bong County correspondent says CUFA made its demand before the University’s Board of Trustees, asking it to ensure an independent investigation.

CUFA says it believes that the current committee constituted by the Board lacks fortitude and independence to effectively investigate and ensure a transparent evaluation of the tenure of Dr. Browne.

According to the faculty, the current committee comprises of certain members of the Board that are confidants of Dr. Browne who were instrumental in his selection as CU president.

They are holding fears that the influence of such people on the panel has allegedly compromised the independence and transparency of the fact-finding committee.

They are claiming that Dr. Browne’s tenure witnessed a massive decline in the institution’s activities in recent time.

They say in press release that in view of the rigmarole, it is strongly believed that Dr. Browne is being allowed indirectly to be a judge in his own case.

As the university begins preparation for a new semester, CUFA says it firmly suggests to the Board of Trustees of CU to take immediate action by constituting an independent, transparent and unbiased committee to investigate Dr. Browne.

The want CU to ensure an audit of his tenure to prevent the re-occurrence of such situation that slowed down academic activities and subsequently led to his suspension.
