A Liberian-American, Cubay Bloatry Wilson, Jr., early this week telephoned the New Dawn to express his desire to play for Liberia. Wilson, a sophomore student at the Community College of Baltimore County, is a regular on the college roster since his enrollment.
According to him, making the choice to play for Liberia is the right decision, having weighed offers from his state. He is scheduled to link-up with a Major League Soccer (MLS) club during the coming season.
“Just a few years away from Liberia makes me to understand the significance of playing for my country, because it will take oversea players and the local FA to renew the image of Liberia’s football,” he said.
Reports gather from his college soccer page suggest that he is an excellent dribbler. Wilson attended the Cathedral Catholic High School here for two years and played in the Inter High School football league before going to the United State.
He once featured in the Liberian Youth Soccer Under-15 national tournament held in the States every year. Cubay earned the NJCAA Division I All Region XX Second Team player title, the Radio LIB player of the Tournament as well as Division I All Region XX Champions 2009NJCAA Division I All Region XX Champions 2010. He came on top with 12 goals in the Radio LIB 2009 summer and sealed the title the second time in 2010 with 7 goals.
