DEA arrests Marijuana worth over LD600, 000

The Kakata Detachment of the Drugs Enforcement Agency or DEA in collaboration with the county’s Community Watch Team has arrested 90 kilograms of Marijuana valued at L$653,350.00 in the provincial town Gbleebar from a drug trafficker only identified as Varney.

A document released by the DEA Satellite Station in Margibi quoted by the Regional Development Planning Officer of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Mrs. Vinetta G. Doe Koffa, says the substance is presently in the custody of UNPOL.

She disclosed that even though the substance was arrested, the suspect is on the run and security forces are exerting every effort to have him arrested and prosecuted. Mrs Doe Koffa revealed that one of the many challenges the DEA in Margibi County is faced with is lack of vehicle.

In a related development, two unexploded bombs have been discovered in the county. The Kakata City Multi County Field Office of UNMIL says one of the devices was discovered in Shecfflin while the other was found in a compound.

UNMIL says the two devices were separately deactivated on January 14 and 19, respectively.
