Deputy MICAT boss condemns constant attacks on government officials by UL Student

The Deputy Minister of Information Culture Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) Jarlawa A. Tonpo has in the strongest term condemn and frown at the University of Liberia’s student’s constant attacks on officials of the CDC Government.

Speaking on Thursday at MICAT regular briefing on Capital Hall Minister Tonpo said U.L is a public University; therefore, nobody has the absolute right to run after other citizens who might have gone there as students or to do other academic transactions.

“We are glad that the faculty of that university has condemned what has happened. And continue to happen at that university, we as a government condemn it and we will not condone it any further.” Minister Tonpo said.

It can be recalled that on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, Aloysius Howe the administrative Aid to Finance Minister Samuel Tweah was chased out of the university campus by members of the campus base Student Unification Party.

The members of the party were seen escorting the administrative Aid to Finance Minister Samuel Tweah off UL Campus while singing, “Aloysius Howe rogue, rogue.”

However, this is not the first time that members of SUP have chased officials of government off the university’s main campus.

Recently, On January 25, 2023, the Vice President of the Republic of Liberia Jewel Howard Taylor was also chased off the University’s main campus and called a rogue, while performing an official duty there.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tonpo has asked the administration of the University to take the necessary action to avoid the reoccurring of the happening.
