Did Fahgon actually sleep in jail?

It remains unclear if jailed Deputy Information Minister Eugene Fahngon was ever transferred from the Liberia National Police (LNP) headquarters to maximum prison to complete his prison term. The NewDawn’s reporter who visited the police headquarters Thursday, 13 September observed that a lawmaker and some officials of ruling party Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) trooped at the police headquarters when Fahgon was due to be transferred.

The Sergeant – at – Arms of the House of Representatives Gen. Martin Johnson was seen carrying a file in his hand when he proceeded at the LNP headquarters on Thursday morning.

The Sergeant –at Arm had been expected to take custody of Fahngon and transfer him to maximum prison based on lawmakers’ orders, and many present at the Police Headquarters had thought that Gen. Johnson presence was to present the said transfer letter for Fahngon.

But upon Gen. Johnson’s arrival at the LNP headquarters, reports emerged that Fahngon had been transferred to Police Inspector General Col. Patrick Sudue’s office where top government officials and CDCians were present.

Among the officials were Labor Minister Moses Kollie and CDC chairman Mulbah Morlu.Few seconds later, the Sergeant – at – Arms returned from Col. Sudue’s office without Fahngon under his custody, except the file he brought with him.

After returning to the Capitol, the House’s Chairman on Judiciary Rep. Fonati Koffa was seen at the LNP headquarters too.Rep. Koffa also went to the Inspector General’s office, stayed there for a while before leaving with the first group of officials who had gone there earlier. There was no Fahngon insight.

With all the apparent maneuverings that dragged Fahngon’s transfer to the Monrovia Central Prison on Thursday, it only remains unclear if he was made to complete his jail term as commanded by lawmakers.
Minister Fahngon was jailed at the police headquarters on Wednesday night, 12 September with understanding that he would have been transferred the next day to complete his two nights’ jail sentence at the Monrovia Central Prison.

He was disgraced by the lawmakers, handcuffed and jailed following his failure to speak to matters involvinh him and Bomi County Representative Edwin Melvin Snowe during a contempt hearing before the House of Representatives.

The contempt hearing results from Fahngon’s insults and loose accusations against Snowe during a recent street encounter in which he is seen in a video, pointing his finger at the lawmaker’s face.
