Don’t buy pigs in bag

Benoni UreyNDLiberian presidential hopeful Benoni W.Urey has urged the people of Nimba not to buy pigs in bag ahead of the 2017 General and Presidential Elections.

Businessman turned politician Urey cautioned Liberian electorate to thoroughly exam past and current contributions of individuals, who want to become President before entrusting them with state power.

According to him, state power should be handed over to people, who are well equipped and have the ability to deliver to the masses. He noted that most leaders and politicians do not have time for rural citizens, and warned that Monrovia is not Liberia. He pointed out that anyone, who claims to love citizens in Monrovia, should extend similar love to all parts of the country.

Urey reminded the people of Nimba that since 1990 up to present he has been with them and will never desert them. He spoke recently during the launch of the ‘Urey Foundation’ in Grale Township, Tappita District, calling on citizens of the township to remain peaceful and law-abiding.

Meanwhile, Mr. Urey, accompanied by his wife, Mai-Bright Urey, has donated an ambulance to the people of Grale Township. The Urey Family said the US$45,000 ambulance will be used in all parts of Nimba to get sick people from far and near to seek medication at any health center in the county.

He also launched a one million Liberian Dollars loan and agriculture program in the township as a way of empowering villagers there. The Presidential hopeful also provided additional one million Liberian Dollars to the people of Saclepea and one Million Liberian Dollars in Ganta in continuation of the loan program, bringing to total L$3 million for the rural population.

Villagers danced and jubilated as the Urey Family launched the loan program. Meanwhile, Mr. Urey and his office staff, including Mr. Emmanuel A. Lomax have dedicated two culvert bridges in the commercial city of Ganta, Nimba County.

Residents of Ganta, who spoke to our Nimba County correspondent, described the bridges as very useful, adding that the bridges will help to provide easy access to road network in Ganta. According to Mr. Lomax, the loan program will be extended to parts of the country as a way of enhancing economic strength of poor people in post-Ebola Liberia.

For his part, Nimba County District#1 Representative Jeremiah KpanKoung, has commended Mr. Urey for the developmental initiative in his district. By Franklin Doloquee,Nimba – Editing by Jonathan Browne
