Dr. Tipoteh’s Condition Still Unstable

Veteran politician Dr. Togba Nah-Tipoteh is expected to be transferred to the United States next Friday, 21 December to undergo advanced medical treatment.

Sources told this paper Tuesday in Monrovia that because of the severity of his ailment, he has been advised by doctors to seek second opinion. Dr. Tipoteh, 71, underwent successful surgery at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital, but has been unable to improve.

“His condition has not really improved as one expected, but going to the United States would help in the process,” the sources said in a disturbing tone.

Though what prompted the operation was not known, sources stated that it could be of the “bladder trouble” that has been bothering him for sometimes.

‘Nah’ got admitted on Thursday, 29 November under worrisome condition. He was visited by several dignitaries, including President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf who wished him a speedy recovery. Because of his continued poor health, sources said he could neither stand nor walk by himself, but remains bed-ridden since been discharged last weekend.

Dr. Tipoteh chairs the ongoing Vision 2030 Steering Committee since its onset early this year. He and other progressives have been in the vanguard of Liberian politics for the past 4 decades or more, and since changed the course of things here.

Their actions have shifted the post of the contemporary devise and brought about the social, freedom of speech, justice and rule of law of which many Liberians continue to enjoy today.

He contested 3 presidential races in 1997, 2005 and 2011-all of which he lost to Former President Charles Taylor and President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf. He returned home from exiled in the early 1990s when his life was under threat during the course of the People’s which he initially served as Minister of Planning and Economic Affairs.
