Alphonso Jutee, a taxi driver believed to be a helper to his friend because he does not have a job presently, has received what he called “miracle money” from Lonestar MTN through a text and win raffle.
Alphonso was announced the monthly winner in the company’s raffle draw when his number appeared on a projector screen in his absence, but in the presence of the public and media, making him the winner of the monthly price of L$500,000.
Participation in the draw was on the basis of a request to send the word ‘Win’ through text to 3310 as many times as possible to become a winner. There were other winners, who walked away with huge sums of Liberian Dollars in the draw. Alphonso who could not wait to collect his price the next day immediately rushed to the Lonestar MTN office in joy to collect his money.
When quizzed about his impression about winning such huge amount from Lonestar MTN by only texting, he said: “I feel happy; I feel so, happy for what I have won from this text and win draw; looking at me winning such huge money is unbelievable.”
He described the opportunity as very timely, especially at a difficult time for him. According to him, he has no job of his own, but depended on other drivers to earn a living. Alphonso noted that such money will afford him the opportunity to self employment and a boss of his own.
Alphonso, 33 added that with the amount he won from Lonestar Cell MTN, his life was about to change, praising the company for creating such opportunity to improve the condition of the poor. He, however, encouraged his colleagues and all Lonestar subscribers to continue texting to win like him.
Mustapha Dukuly, an officer of the Liberia National Police also walked away with LD$54,600, while Rochelle Samukai won LD$10,500 from the same Text and Win draw during the December weekly draw.
The company’s marketing officer, Ibrahim Darime said the draw was a three-month project implemented by Lonestar MTN to afford subscribers benefit from the company’s profits made from the same subscribers.
