Nimba County, Liberia, April 8, 2025 – Nimba County’s lone female senatorial candidate Edith Gongloe-Weh, continues to receive massive endorsement from Nimbaians, including rural women and young people across the county.
Several Nimbaians say their decision to support Madam Gongloe-Weh, also a former superintendent of Nimba, is based on her leadership ability, coupled with her work in the past.
They publicly announced that they are suffering under the Boakai-led administration, so they don’t want to go for another by-election by viting for a sitting lawmaker, in reference to Representative Samuel Kogar of the MDR.
Ericson Wehyee and Esther Deamie said voting for Representative Kogar will lead to another by-election in Nimba.
They accused President Joseph Boakai and Vice President Jeremiah Koung of wanting another by-election by supporting Representative Samuel Kogar.
They pledged to do everything possible in ensuring that Madam Gongloe-Weh gets elected to the senate this time around.
The NEW DAWN Nimba Correspondent says the pending by-election is her fourth time vying for the senate. She has pledged to bring changes in the county leadership, if elected.
On issues of development, the female senatorial candidate promised protection for women, good leadership and to promote unity among the people of Nimba. She is contesting against six male candidates in the race, including incumbent Representative Kogar, who enjoys the support of Vice President Jeremiah Koung. Editing by Jonathan Browne
