Ellen inspects JFK eye center
President Ellen Johnson – Sirleaf has visited and inspected ongoingworks at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, particularly the eyecenter that is being renovated by Indian experts.
After President Sirleaf made a stop there on Friday, 21 October, JFKChief Administrator Dr. Wvannie Scott -McDonald told journalists thatthe eye center will help deal with eye problems here and stops the referral of patients abroad for treatment.
She said the facility will be managed by Liberians, after beingtrained to manage the unit and equipment installed there. Dr. Scott – McDonald said JFK is currently undergoing its first majorrenovation since its establishment in the 1960s, and dedication isexpected for the July 26, 2017 Independence Day celebration. She said the renovation of JFK is being funded from “fees – for -service” that, according to her has been approved by the hospital’sboard.
