Ellen Reassures Duport Road Marketers

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has reassured marketers of the Duport Road community that Government is committed to constructing a market in their community later this year. The Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Dr. Edward McClain re-echoed Madam Sirleaf’s commitment when he met with the marketers at his Foreign Ministry office Thursday. “What the President has asked me to convey is that her promise for building the market there on Duport Road still stands right after 2012-2013 Fiscal Budget is approved,” President Sirleaf’s Chief of Staff said; but noted that this will be done after the technical aspects are resolved, including the budget, land purchase and architectural design are complete.

The Superintendent of the Duport Road Market, Martha Gborzeo, thanked Minister McClain for the audience and asked him to convey to President Sirleaf her group’s thanks and appreciation for all that she’s doing to improve their well-being and her efforts for all market women in general.

Those present at the meeting included: the Director-General of the General Services Agency (GSA), Mrs. Pearine Davis-Parkinson; Montserrado County District #4 Representative, Honorable Henry B. Fahnbulleh, Jr.; representatives of the Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, led by Deacon William F. Borbor; and representatives of the Duport Road Market, led by Mrs. Martha Gborzeo.
