Ellen’s Son to Deputize At CBL?

Charles Sirleaf, one of the sons of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, is expected to be named as Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL).

CBL sources told this paper last night that the pending nomination is based on the confidence and the level of experience of the would-be appointee particularly in the banking sector.

The source indicated that the Governor is in the corridor with strong argument that Charles Sirleaf lack competent for the post of Deputy Governor of the Central Bank which needs a experience and season person.

The post of deputy governor has been vacate for some time now since the sacking  for an alleged mismanagement by Samuel Thompson, who was later named head of the National Housing Authority late last year.

The pending nomination of Charles Sirleaf by his mother, President Sirleaf has raised serious elbows among members of the Board of Directors, senior and junior managers, and employees of the bank including Governor Mill Jones.

According to the source members of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Liberia are opposing the pending decision on grounds that functions of the bank could be influence by the President through her son.

But the Liberian Constitution President empowered to appoint anyone of his or her choice to any position of trust but subject to confirmation by the Senate.

In another development, the head of state expected to announce a reshuffle with the replacement of the Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), T. Nelson Williams with the Deputy Commerce Minister, Charles Nelson; Pete Norman for Commerce Ministry, while current Minister Miatta Besolow go as Liberian Ambassador to the African Union.
