The Government of Liberia issues a national security circular here, advising persons of interest needed to assist with ongoing investigation into circumstance surrounding the importation of Liberian banknotes into Liberia country between November 2017 and August 2018, not to leave the country.
A press statement issued Tuesday by the Ministry of Information says the government takes the ongoing investigation seriously because it has national security implications.Minster Eugene Lenn Nagbe says authorities at all points of entry or exit including land, border, air and sea ports have been directed to take due cognizance of the circular.
The release discloses that investigation team has asked for the continued cooperation of several individuals, including Milton Weeks, George Abi Jaoudi, Charles Sirleaf, Richard Walker, Mariea E. G. Toe, Musulyn R. B. Jackson and Opheila Nyenpan. Others are Oldada Deshield, Prince Bull, J. Barquolleh Gabriel, Theodosia B. Jreh, Zinnah Davison, Solomon Jaykpah, Kollie Ballah, and Andrew Pabai, amongst others.
Minister Nagbe further discloses that former executive governor of the Central Bank of Liberia Milton Weeks will visit headquarters of the Liberia National Police at 10:00 a.m. today, Wednesday, 19 September to continue assisting with investigation.
Controversy surrounding the mysterious disappearance of billions of Liberian dollars took another twist here Tuesday when the government’s chief spokesman, Lenn Eugene Nagbe, revealed that the total amount of money in question is actually 16 billion Liberian Dollars, not L$9 billion as earlier reported.
