Ex-representative candidate’s business center burglarized

A defeated Montserrado County District #7 independent representative candidate Mr. Pokai Roberts’ jewelries enterprise has reportedly been burglarized, allegedly leading to a loss of over US$120,000.00 worth of assorted jewelries from the Pokai Jewelry Enterprise on Randall Street in Monrovia.

The incident allegedly occurred on Tuesday, 7 November. The Jewelry Enterprise Chief Executive Officer Mr. Roberts officially confirmed the reported burglary into his business premises when contacted Wednesday, 8 November via mobile phone. But he did not elaborate further.

Closed associates of Mr. Roberts who begged for anonymity say they established upon arrival on the crime scene that the glass doors to the business premises were not damaged and the door remains locked just as Mr. Roberts left it.

They also disclosed that the unknown criminals collected every gold stone placed on the shelves for sale and other items associated with jewelry processing.

The anonymous witnesses are claiming to be suspecting that the thieves may not have come from too far to have carried out such burglary operation in such a manner.

Meanwhile, officers of the Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) of the Liberia National Police (LNP) are said to be investigating the incident to establish circumstances surrounding the burglary. No arrest has been made so far in connection with the theft.

The Jewelry Enterprise is one of several businesses owned and managed by Mr. Roberts in Monrovia and its environs. The ex-representative candidate is a one-time striker of the Liberia National Football Team, the Lone Star in the late 70s.
