Citizens of Bongmines Distric#7 Lower Bong County have expressed disappointment and frustration after learning that former Vice President Jewel H. Taylor never fulfilled her promise of building a Vocational Center in their community.
According to the former commissioner, Mr. Aaron S. Mublah, in 2018, Madam Taylor promised to build a vocational Center in Bongmines to provide skills and training opportunities for youths in the community.
This promise was followed by a groundbreaking ceremony for the project in the same year.
This promise was seen as a ray of hope for the town, which lacked educational and economic opportunities.
However, citizens of Bongmines have yet to see the first block of the Vocational Center being laid.
They claimed that the former vice president had not only failed to fulfill her promise, but she also never followed up on the issue or provided any explanation for the delay.
“It is disappointing to see that our former Vice President, who promised to bring development to our community, has not even bothered to follow up on her promise,” said John Flomo, another resident of Bongmines.
Other citizens expressed their frustration, stating that the absence of a vocational Center has made it difficult for the youths in the town to acquire skills and secure employment.
They also accused Madam Taylor of using their community for political gain without any intention of fulfilling her promises.
“We were used as pawns in her political game, and now we are left with nothing but empty promises. Our youths are suffering, and we have been left in the dark,” said another resident, Grace Gbassagee.
The citizens of Bongmines are now calling on the government and other development partners to intervene and provide the much-needed vocational Center in their community.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach former Vice President Jewel H. Taylor for a comment on the issue have been unsuccessful.
