Executive Pavilion Project In Coma

The renovation of the old Executive Pavilion on Ashmun/Broad Streets is at a standstill. The contractor is refusing to continue the job due to the absence of 75% payment of wages by the government for the renovation.

The government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Public Works has reportedly complained that the Afrique construction and maintenance company management had refused to adhere to the agreement, which calls for 75% completion before further payment, but the private company is suspecting that the government may not make any refund if it did.

In January of this year, Vice President Joseph Boakai intervened in the situation, but the both parties have not been willing to let go their respective interests.

The renovation of the Executive pavilion costs US$800,000.00, 25% of which has already been received by Afrique. The renovation project was set for six months.
