Family, friends, comrades hold one-day symposium in honor of Dr. Sawyer

Families, Friends, Comrades and Associates of late Dr. Amos C. Sawyer are expected to hold a one-symposium today June 15, 2022, in his honor at the Monrovia City Hall.

The event commemorates the 77th birth anniversary of Prof Sawyer who died on February 16, 2022.

The occasion will be held under the theme “Reflections on the Life and Work of Professor Amos Claudius Sawyer”.

Dr. H. Boima Fahnbulleh, a long-time comrade of Prof Sawyer in the struggle for democracy and social justice here, will deliver the keynote.

Speakers from various walks of life, including academics from Liberia, the United States of America and Nigeria will make presentations on the contributions of Professor Sawyer to the development of social science scholarship and the advancement of good governance and democracy in Liberia and the rest of Africa.

According to the convening chair of the program, former Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh, the event is one of several events meant to continue the work of Professor Amos Sawyer and to expose the young generation to his ideas and lifelong work for democracy and social justice in Africa.

The event will be held in the Ball Room of the Monrovia City Hall, commencing at 1 PM. There will also be a zoom link for those unable to attend physically and those abroad to participate virtually.

President George Weah is expected to lead a select array of government officials from all three branches of government to grace the occasion.
