FEJAL finally elects new Secretary-General

The Female Journalists Association of Liberia or FEJAL has finally elected a new Secretary General. FEJAL over the weekend went to the polls and elected Mrs. Winnie Saywah Jimmy as Co-coordinator and Antoinette Sendolo as Secretary General, respectively.

FEJAL finally

The Association weeks ago met in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County to elect various officials but there was problem with its constitution that’s says two persons from one institution cannot hold elected offices. However, that part of the constitution was relaxed as Winnie and Antoinette of the Inquirer Newspaper became victorious.

The Secretary-elect Antoinette Sendolo has urged young females in the media to be active so that they all can work together to make FEJAL what they want it to be. She also expressed delight about her preferment, noting it’s now that the voices of the young people will be heard and their interest will be pushed forward.

“It’s not all about me but about us all that worked together to make me victorious; I am ready and willing to work with the Leadership and even my opponent, who was not successful. We shouldn’t take anything personal, we need collective efforts”. Antoinette noted.

The Secretary General-elect became victorious with a difference of four votes after attaining 29 votes against her opponent Lisa Dahn, who had 25 votes. The Co- coordinator Mrs Jimmy won with 45 votes on white ballot.

Coordinator-elect Mrs Siatta Scott Johnson congratulated the newly elected officials, saying she is willing to work with them and everyone to can uplift FEJAL.
