The Fiscal Decentralization Unit of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning will hold a one-day technical session to develop a workable fiscal decentralization, financial management and local governance teaching module to enhance the understanding of fiscal thoughts of local governance at the Sharks Entertainment Inc. this Wednesday, August 12, 20.
The release by the Ministry indicated that the session will include presentations made by professors, public administrators, and public financial experts, while a special statement will be delivered by the Deputy Minister of Fiscal Affairs, Dr. James F. Kollie.
The Ministry of said the session will bring together thirty-five participants from Universities, Colleges and line ministries and agencies of Government. According to the release,the Fiscal Decentralization Unit has the responsibility to support the Inter-governmental Fiscal Framework aimed at providing a comprehensive framework for the long-term development of intergovernmental fiscal arrangements, including the assignment of expenditure responsibilities, revenue responsibilities, intergovernmental transfers, coordinating the county development funds and the social development funds, the county treasury framework and working with institutions responsible for decentralization and those institutional arrangements that entails participatory governance.
The Local Governance and Decentralization Policy were launched by her Excellency – the President, Madame Ellen Sirleaf Johnson in January 2012.
