Flag Day speaker blasts Margibi authorities.

Beyan said that shunning the program showed that the officials lacked interest in what the young people of the county love and that they would not stand with them anytime.

Margibi, Liberia, August 26, 2024: A flag day speaker in Margibi County, Mr. Joseph Orlando Beyan, blasted the county’s authorities for their absence at a program organized by the Ministry of Education on August 24, 2024.

Beyan blasted all members of the Margibi County Legislative Caucus and the County Administration for missing the program.

He suggested that their absence had dampened the hopes of students, young people, and their parents, who had gathered for the indoor program after hours of parade.

The program was planned and implemented by the Ministry of Education and other county ministries.

It was held at the Kakata City Hall, and students, young people from diverse backgrounds, and community people were in attendance.

He spoke on “Revolutionizing our flag day, demanding change for a brighter Margibi.”

Mr. Beyan, who is popularly known in Margibi as JOB, expressed frustration that none of the county leaders were in the hall after young people were in the rain along with their parents to celebrate the flag day.

He noted that their leaders would ask for their votes during electoral time but wouldn’t join them for a flag day program in the rain.

A National Youth League of the People’s Unification Party (PUP) member, Mr Beyan supported the ruling Unity Party (UP) during the 2023 elections.

He noted that it was disappointing to see that the lawmakers and the county superintendent were all absent from the program.

According to him, shunning the program showed that they lacked interest in what the young people of the county love, and they would not stand with them for time.

He suggested that the county cannot boast of any scholarship, and it has also paralyzed the Margibi Youth Secretariat and many other meaningful academic organizations that were functional in the county.

He maintained that the authorities enjoy the young people being divided and use them to ascend to positions.

JOB noted that the county authorities should have made it their business to be present because Flag Day is one of the days that unite the county.

He, however, cautioned the young people to take the courage because better days are ahead.
