Former Bong Senator calls for inclusion in governance process

Former Bong County Senator Franklin ObedSiakor has underscored good governance and the equitable distribution of the national cake across the country as the key to true unification in Liberia.

In an interview with journalists recently, Mr. Siakor stressed the need for the full participation and total involvement of everyone in the governance process of the country. He wants those at the helm of power to initiate peace conferences across the country and also create the platform for the ordinary people to have their say in the decision making processes of the country.

He suggests that true reconciliation and unification will be far from achieving when a handful of the population, believed to be the elite, is unduly exploiting and marginalizing the ordinary majority. Siakor also emphasizes religious tolerance as essential to genuine reconciliation and unification in Liberia. Quizzed about the ensuing midterm senatorial race in Bong, Mr. Siakor says he will support the senatorial bid of Ambassador, Jeremiah Sulonteh.

He believes that Sulonteh is best suited for the job, citing his long time experience in government, his national and international relations and contacts and track records as factors that place Sulonteh above other contenders. Mr. Siakor furthers that he is at the moment soliciting the support of other like minded people to ensure that Sulonteh ascends to the Liberian Senate.
