Former Liberian Striker Booked With Drugs

Arthur Farh, a one-time team-mate of George Weah, was arrested at Heathrow Airport after allegedly being found with a kilo of cocaine.

Farh, 39, was stopped by UK Border Agency officers after flying in from the Caribbean on 22 January. News of his arrest only became public in Liberia on Tuesday after his absence was noticed by friends and family.

After a body search was carried out at Heathrow, local officers arrested Farh on “suspicion of importing a Class A drug.” The UK Border Agency’s website adds that the former footballer “is suspected to have swallowed packages of cocaine.”

The former Lone Star striker appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Sunday, 23 January, where he was remanded in custody. Farh earned over 30 caps for Liberia in the late 1980s and 1990s, while also enjoying a successful playing career in Europe with Rennes of France among others.

While playing in Germany, Farh took German citizenship, but he has recently been living in Birmingham in the English Midlands. Prior to his departure from Liberia, Arthur played for Fulani FC.
