Residents of West Point Township screamed and wailed, while others beat their chests in disbelief when news of the death of a Fulani man only identified as Hassan, spread like wide fire in the slum community of over 100,000 residents. The remains of the deceased were discovered early on Friday, 24 July 2013 hanging in his bed room.

According to community sources, Hassan was a commercial motorcyclist, who sustained injuries in an accident, leaving one of his legs severely affected.  Considering the critical condition of his legs, Hassan was taken to a local hospital in Monrovia for treatment where he was hospitalized.

Another resident of the community, Wleh Momo narrated that Hassan’s body hung on a rope, hitting against the wall, a sound that neighbors heard and rushed into the room and immediately took him from the rope and rushed him to hospital.

Following news of his death, some family members noted that due to the severity of the injuries sustained in the accident, Hassan was admitted in hospital without, but escaped from the hospital to keep watch on his beloved wife, who he had suspected of involvement in extra marital affairs.

Family sources said Hassan had in time past complained of his wife having extra marital affair, something for which according to them, he once threatened to take his life if the woman didn’t stop the unfaithfulness.

According to sources, despite numerous complaints from Hassan against his wife, he never identified a suspect, but there was never peace in his relationship as kept grieving and worrying up to his death.
