Residents of Ganta City and its environs in Electoral District One, Nimba County are expected to benefit from 20 hand pumps shortly. Citizens of district one reached the decision over the weekend in a town hall meeting with their representative, Jeremiah Koung.
According to our Nimba County Correspondent, they agreed to spend US$70,000 to construct 20 hand pumps in the district. The fund is being allotted thru the district budget.
District One Representative Jeremiah Koung said, when constructed, the pumps will provide safe drinking for the residents.
Meanwhile, dozens of students of the Garr Blein Public School in District Two, Nimba County have reportedly abandoned classes to go on the farm. Speaking to this paper in the county, the Principal of the Garr Blein Public School, Mr. Alfred Keah said, parents are now taking their children out of school and sending them on the farm.
Mr. Keah said while school is in session, parents walk in the classroom and asked their kids out to go on the farm, while others sent their kids to get their products ready for Thursday’s market in Zuluyee.
Some parents, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they have their bigger children in school in Ganta, so they careless to enroll the smaller ones in. Some of the kids, who were allegedly forced out of school by their parents, were seen dressed in their school uniforms, working.
