Gbagbo’s Indictment Causes Stir in Grand Gedeh

The arrest and immediate transfer to The Hague, Netherlands of former Ivorian President, Laurent Gbagbo, by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for trial is causing stir among Ivoirian refugees here.

Ivorian refugees in camps in Dougee Town, PTP near Zwedru  and other places within Grand Gedeh County are said to unhappy the absence of Gbagbo from their country.

Most of the refugees, who spoke to this paper, said the presence of Gbagbo in Ivory Coast was contributing to the gradual return of peace and stability to their country.

Over 50,000 Ivoirian refugees here are reportedly supporters of Mr. Gbagbo.  Gbagbo, 66, has been indicted by the International Criminal Court or ICC and charged with economic crime, violence, amongst others.
