Local UP Chair Wanted For Rape
Crime investigators of the Bong County Police Detachment in Fuamah District, Lower Bong County recently launched a massive man hunt for the local chairman of the ruling Unity Party (UP) in the district, Samuel Kollie. The UP local chair is wanted by police in Bong Mines for allegedly raping a woman in her early 30s.
According to information gathered by this paper, the incident occurred recently in Popo town community of the former Bong Mining Company when the victim had reportedly gone to urinate during the evening hours a few yards from her residence.
Samuel Kollie who was reported to be under the influence of alcohol, reportedly rushed on his victim when he realized she was in the process of urinating and held her mouth to avoid screaming, while he sexually abused her.
It was gathered that the victim did not resist the sexual assault for fear of being harmed since it was dark and the area isolated. The rape victim later reported the case to the police after suspect Kollie had left her and escaped to an unknown destination. Family members of the victim told the New Dawn that they were not taking the matter with ease until the accused was arrested and prosecuted.
Meanwhile, this paper has gathered that the wanted Unity Party local chairman might have crossed the St. Paul River to hide in a terrain that is very difficult to patrol due to the dense nature of the forest.
