GoL, partners hold confab on home grown school feeding programme

Government and its partners will today July 27, 2018 hold a one day National Stakeholders Conference on Home-Grown School Feeding Programme at the Monrovia City Hall in Monrovia.

The conference is expected to discuss the Role of Home-Grown School Feeding Programme in ensuring every child in Liberia receives the quality education necessary to reach their full growth and developmental potential.

The President George Weah is expected to grace the event together with the United Nations World Food Programme’s Regional Director for West and Central Africa Mr. Abdou Dieng, Government Officials and representatives from Development Partners, regional organizations and the United Nations System in Liberia.

This conference is expected to advance consultations and open dialogue on the implementation of the nationally-owned Home-Grown School Feeding initiative and its potential to be a critical driver of development in Liberia. Closely aligned to and supportive of the Government’s Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD), Home-Grown School Feeding Programme encompasses a sustainable mechanism for strengthening the nexus between food security, nutrition, agriculture and education in Liberia and improving the livelihoods of the country’s growing youth population.

One of the important outcomes of this event will be to generate a multi-sector Action Plan for securing the long-term success of Home-Grown School Feeding Programme in Liberia and ensuring no Liberian child is left behind. –Press release
