GoL signs US$200,000 contract

The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, or MICAT has signed a US$200,000 contract with a local company, Link Architecture, Contractor, and Consultant Firm to construct a state-of-the-art National Culture Center in Ben town,Margibi County.

Performing the ceremony Tuesday, November 3, 2015, Deputy Information Minister, Isaac Jackson and the Assistant Minister for Culture, Louise McMillan, signed on behalf of the Ministry, while Manyu Kamara, Jr., General Manager of Link Architecture Contractor and Consultant Inc., signed for his company.

Minister Jackson said Link’s first work will commence with fencing of a 52-acre land procured for the National Culture Center in Ben Town, Margibi County.The acting Minister narrated that concrete pillars connected with barbed wires will be erected to form the boundary of the center, while 30 acres will be cleared for the construction of the National Cultural Village, future home of the National Cultural Troupe.

He said phase two of the project will see the construction of pre-fabricated buildings at 15 separate sites in line with the master-design layout of the center.Under the agreement, it is expected that the contractor will pre-finance the purchase of all equipment and materials and coordinate the execution of the contract with the Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation Team of the Information Ministry in conjunction with the Ministry of Public Works and the General Services Agency (GSA).

On timetable for implementation, the deputy MICAT boss pointed out that works are expected to commence following the signing of the agreement and would last for five months. He the ministry intends to apply a portion of its budgetary allocation to procure repair and maintenance services to better execute the Ben Town project.
