Golf Tourney In Second Phase

The first phase of the Nelson C. Oneyama National Youth Golf Training Tournament has ended, with at least eight   qualifying for the second stage.

Those in the second stage of the tournament are Daniel Merchant, Leetor Flomo, Akoi Flomo and Edwin Geekor, all of the Firestone Golf Court. Others are Alphonso Watson, Aaron Watson, Wilson Nimely and Milton Nimely of the Sea view Golf court.

The competition started since April 3 this year at the Sea view Golf Court in Virginia and  Firestone Golf Court in Harbel, Margibi County respectively with about 50 youths participating.

The tournament is being sponsored by Nelson C. Oneyama, President of the Liberia Golf Association (LGA) with the sole intend of recruiting and training young Liberian Golfers.

According to Jacob Smith, Secretary General of LGA the tournament is in fulfillment of the Association President’s inaugural speech, in which he promised that during his administration, the game will be a champion sport in the country.

Meanwhile, the President of the Liberia Golf Association has concluded talks for the two winners of the training Tournament to travel to Nigeria for further studies. The competition continues next weekend at the same venues.
