Gov’t admits receipt of grievance letter
The Ministries of Internal Affairs and Justice have acknowledged receipt of a letter of grievance by the youth of Maryland County regarding the situation surrounding operations of MOPP and CRC.
MOPP is the Maryland Oil Palm Plantation, while CRC is the Cavalla Rubber Corporation, both operating in Maryland County.
On Saturday, an inter-agency meeting jointly chaired by Internal Affairs Minister Morris Dukuly and Justice Minister and Attorney General of Liberia Cllr. Benedict Sannoh, and attended by Maryland County Senator Gblebo Brown, who represented the Legislative Caucus of the County, Executive Director of the National Bureau of Concessions, the Inspector General of Liberian National Police, and Maryland County Superintendent Betsy Kuoh, was held at Ministry of Internal Affairs on Capitol Hill.
Cllr. James A.A. Pierre and Cllr. John Saah Nyumah represented MOPP & CRC.
The meeting decided to set up an inter-agency committee comprising the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Chair, Justice-Co-Chair, Labor, Member and Agriculture-Member. Other members of the committee are Land Commission, National Bureau of Concessions and Maryland County Administration.
Meanwhile Ministers Dukuly and Sannoh have assured that the grievances contained in the youths’ position statement will be addressed.
Ministers Dukuly and Sannoh have therefore called on all citizens and residents of Maryland, including the youth  not to engage in any actions that will negatively affect the operations of the company.

At the same time, a delegation comprising representatives of the inter-agency committee is expected to travel to Maryland next week to meet with citizens and launch investigation into the matter.
