Government Schools Demand High Fees in Bong

The National Program Officer of the Foundation for International Dignity  or FIND has condemned the hike in tuition fees at various government schools in Bong County.

Mr. Aaron Juakollie described the action of school administrators to increase tuition far beyond government’s stipulated fees as an act to expose the government to public ridicule.

The FIND National Program Officer expressed the belief that the unauthorized increment must be thoroughly investigated by the Ministry of Education to ensure that those involved are penalized, adding that as the government attempts to make school fees affordable for its citizens, unscrupulous individuals should not be allowed to unnecessarily increase fees.

He, however, urged the government to provide materials and stationery for the smooth running of schools across the country.

According to our Bong County correspondent, many of the government schools in Bong County were registering students at the cost of more than two thousand Liberian Dollars for senior high and more than five hundred Liberian dollars for students of Kindergating to six grade, as well as more than six hundred dollars for junior high students.

Huge public criticisms continue to greet the hike in tuition at the various government schools in Bong County.
