Graduation ends in tragedy

A young graduate of the Karn High School in Gbeh-lay-geh, Nimba County has been pronounced dead by doctors at the G.W. Harley Hospital in Sanniquellie. The late student Preston Sieder, 24, met his sudden death on Saturday, 15 October in Karnplay City, Nimba following a colorful graduation ceremony.

 

The deceased was among 242 candidates, who successfully passed the 2015-2016 WAEC exams that were administered across the country. The late Preston Sieder was a graduate of the Karn High School, and on his way home to have a graduation party when a twin-cabin pick-up transporting him, was involved in a crash. The driver of the vehicle 25-year-old Matthew Jackson is reportedly in a critical condition.

Karn-High School is the only public school in Gbeh-lay-geh district#3 that performed well in the 2015-2016 exams, among a total of 23 schools that successfully passed in the WAEC.
The graduation ceremony was, among others, attended by the County Education Officer Mr. Moses S. Dologbay.

During the ceremony, CEO Dologbay called on the graduates to be focus and strive for higher education in order to make Liberia proud. He also urged them to combat violence and help government to promote peace.
