Grand Gedeh: Logger killed By Fallen Tree

The Manager of Echo Timber, Mr. Emmanuel Kinsley Eshine on last Friday died as a result of a tragic accident in Gorbowroba, Grand Gedeh County.

The Operation Manager of the Geblo Logging Company, Mr. Dennis Weah told The New Dawn that the incident occurred near a burn farm in Gorbowroba, Grand Gedeh County.

Mr. Weah said the victim was walking by a farm that was being burnt when a tree that apparently gutted fire fell on the Ghanaian logger killing him instantly.

The Geblo Logging operation manager said the incident occurred as Mr. Eshine and other employees of the company were returning from an assessment trip from the forest area awarded to the Geblo Logging Incorporated by the Liberian Government.

Mr. Weah said the deceased assessment was in line with the partnership agreement between the Echo Timber and the Geblo Logging Incorporated to operate in the FMC area “I” concession in Grand Gedeh and Sinoe County.

The deceased will be transferred from the AB Davies Funeral Parlous in Zwedru to the St. Moses Funeral Home for onward movement to his home country.

According to the AB Davies Funeral Parlous Mortician, Abraham Davies the victim died from multiple injuries.
Mr. Davies named the multiple injuries sustained by the victim as fractural head, broken arm and internal bleeding.

Geblo Logging Incorporated won the bid to operate in the Area “I” forest in Tchine and Cavalla Districts of Grand Gedeh and Pyne Town and Seekon Districts in Sinoe County.

The company has met national government forest requirement, signed social agreement contracts with the Community Forestry Development Committees and has since begun its operations.
