Grand Kru uncovers 60 ghosts on payroll

The Grand Kru County Health Team in southeast Liberia has discovered over 60 ghost names on the payroll of the county health system. Most of those on the list are workers, who refused to take up assignment in the remote county.

County Health Officer Dr. Augustine Nyankun Fannieh, made the disclosure at the just ended 10th sitting of the County Development Council held at the Barclayville City Hall.
Dr. Fannieh described the act as a complete disservice to the people of Grand Kru and Liberia at large.

According to him, the Ministry of Health has mandated the County Health Team to revisit the payroll and submit report to headquarters for immediate replacement of employees not willing to take up assignment in the county along with other healthcare workers, who are yet to be placed on government’s payroll.

Meanwhile, the Grand Kru Legislative Caucus has extolled Dr. Augustine Fannieh for the update and at the same time pledging to prevail on the Ministry of Health to delete those involved from the payroll.

Several citizens speaking to this paper in Grand Kru recently expressed disappointment in their sons and daughters, who were crying for job, refusing to maintain the job.
They lauded the head of the County Health Team and the Ministry of Health for the step taken, adding that such firm stance when exerted across Liberia, will give the country a positive image and help in building a transparent health system.
