Gbarnga, Bong County – May 15, 2025 — In a significant step toward expanding its operations and deepening its impact at the grassroots level, the United Bong County Association in the Americas (UBCAA) has announced that it will officially break ground for the construction of its Lower Bong County office in Totota on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
The upcoming office complex will serve as a multifunctional hub designed to support the organization’s development efforts in the region. Key features of the facility will include a fully equipped computer lab offering free digital literacy and skills training to residents, a printing press to support both organizational and community printing needs, and administrative offices to coordinate UBCAA’s growing portfolio of programs and initiatives in Lower Bong.
During a radio appearance one of the local radio station in Gbarnga on Tuesday, Mr. Reuben Dolo, UBCAA’s Acting Country Director, said the project aligns with the association’s broader decentralization strategy, which seeks to expand its presence and accessibility across all districts of Bong County.
> “This groundbreaking is not just about erecting a building—it’s about empowering communities through education, skills development, and access to resources,” said Mr. Dolo. “We want our programs and services to be closer to the people, especially in rural parts of Bong County.”
Mr. Dolo further acknowledged the visionary leadership of Mr. Caimon Joe GbamoKollie, the current National President of UBCAA, and the association’s executive team in the United States, who he said have shown steadfast commitment to development efforts in Liberia. He highlighted their ongoing support for initiatives ranging from education and healthcare to youth empowerment and infrastructure.
“We are deeply grateful for their unwavering support and dedication to the mission of UBCAA. This project in Totota is a clear example of what collaboration between the diaspora and the home-based team can achieve,” Dolo emphasized.
The groundbreaking event is expected to attract a wide cross-section of stakeholders, including local government officials, traditional leaders, residents, youth groups, and development partners. It will mark the beginning of what UBCAA envisions as a model for regional community outreach centers across Bong County.
Since its founding, UBCAA has played a pivotal role in fostering development and unity among Bong County citizens both at home and in the diaspora. Through educational scholarships, medical supplies donations, community projects, and advocacy, the organization continues to be a key driver of local progress.
As anticipation builds for Saturday’s event, residents in and around Totota have expressed optimism that the new facility will not only create opportunities but also inspire more civic participation and pride in local development.
