A man said to be in his early thirties has been discovered dead with his lower abdomen gushed opened and organs badly damaged in Salala District, Lower Bong County in Central Liberia. The gruesome body was discovered right in the middle of the main street of Salala, creating serious panic among residents of the area with the deceased yet unidentified.

The Liberia National Police detachment in Salala investigating circumstances leading to the mysterious death have not released any information up to press time on Tuesday, September 6.
But eyewitnesses narrated to our correspondent in Margibi County, who visited the scene, that they just woke up early Sunday, September 5, and saw the strange lifeless body in the middle of the street adjacent the police station and the Salala Magisterial Court.

Others surmised he may had been knocked down and killed by a vehicle, while crossing the road during the night hours; some said he may had been murdered and dumped in the street by unknown persons, arguing that if he was hit by a vehicle, residents with houses close to the road would have heard the sound of the impact and come out to inquire.

On the other hand, those residents who believe the deceased was murdered, further argued that if he had been hit by a car, his blood would have spilled on the asphalt. However, other eyewitnesses suggested the deceased’s family lives in Salala District, but were unable to give any identity.

Our correspondent, who visited the scene, detailed that the deceased’s intestines and penis were exposed out of his lower abdomen and one of his legs were completely damaged with a 25kg rice bag containing clothes along with a cutlass and other items found near the body.
