GT Bank indictees guilty

Jurors have handed a unanimous guilty verdict against defendants Stanley Yorsee and MontmorancyYancy in a trial for the alleged misapplication of Total Liberia Inc.’s deposits at Guaranty Trust Bank Liberia to the tune of US$126,219.

Their counsels have taken exception, but Judge Emery S. Paye has set Monday, 3 October for the court’s final ruling in the case. According to the Prosecutors, the indictees used customers’ deposits  for a loan scheme not authorized by Guaranty Trust bank or GT Bank management.

But in what appeared to be a protest, defendant Stanley Yorsee claimed that he was not the only supervisor that reviewed the teller’s logs, insisting that supervisor JestinaBoakai was not charged.

He and his colleague, Yancy denied the charges against them. Defendant Yancy claimed brutality at the hands of his bank official in his testimony during the trial. They were jointly indicted along with Emmanuel Togba, but Togba became
