GVL management, union leadership end two-day workshop

The Agriculture Workers Union of Golden Veroleum Liberia Workers union and Golden Veroleum Management concluded a two-day capacity building workshop facilitated by the Ministry of Labor in Greenville, Sinoe County, 6 June. The training communicated the role of a trade union organization, interpretation of Liberian labor law and the role of the Bureau of Regional Labor Affairs.

According to Hon. Ebenezer Gibson, Deputy Minister for Trade Union Affairs at the Ministry of Labor, the training exercise is considered as pilot project, adding that this will be done for all unions across the country. Stanley Carter, President of GVL Agriculture workers Union indicatedthat the training marks a fresh beginning between the GVL management and the union.

“The workshop was quite good and we look forward to building a good relationship with our management. We are happy for the training and we need more, and we hope management can consider that,” said Carter.

GVL Senior Manager for Human Resources, Eric Goll, expressed his commitment to working closely with the union for positive results. “Now that this training workshop has completed, we see a clear path for engagement and look forward to a very close relationship with the union and positive results.”

The training brought together, union leadership, GVL management and was facilitated by a four-member delegation from the Ministry of Labor headed by the Deputy Minister of Trade Union Affairs.
