GVL presents signed MOU to Numopoh

The Golden Veroleum Community Affairs and Social Sustainability Team recently presented copies of the signed memorandum of understanding to Numopoh citizens in Del-kilo City, Sinoe.

During the presentation, which was attended by paramount and clan chiefs, as well as other stakeholders including youth and women’s groups, the Numopoh Citizens Welfare Committee (NCWC), Numopoh Concerned Citizens Movement (NCCM) and the general citizenry.

Making the special presentation on behalf of GVL, Assistant Manager for Community Affair and Social Sustainability, Roosevelt V. Wleh, thanked the people and stake holders of Numopoh for their unremitting support and cooperation.

“It is important and obligatory for us as a company to bring back to you copies of the MOU that was signed between you and GVL on the 28th of April 2014, that you as a people can individually or collectively have a vivid insight of what is within the document, it is guide of upholding the Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) Standards which will ensure that transparency and mutual understanding between the communities and GVL remain strong all of the time,” said Wleh.

Mr. Wleh presented a copies to each of the six chiefdoms through their paramount chiefs, as well as a copy each to the twelve clan chiefs, community chairpersons of 24 communities, youth leaders, and women representatives, principals of public schools and civil society organizations. Speaking on behalf of the people of Numopoh, Senior Paramount Chief Richard Taryon thanked GVL for the open initiative by providing copies of the signed MOU and bringing back their signatures for their own perusal.

“We will ensure that these documents are kept safe that our unborn generation can utilize them in the implementation of all that we have agreed upon for their benefit,” said Taryon.
