Handball Federation decries lack of support

By Naneka Hoffman (Contributor)

Handball is one of the fastest growing and fourth sports in Liberia behind football, basketball and tennis.

But handball is the least supporting sport in the country despite being the fastest growing game.

The secretary-general of the Liberia Handball Federation Hadji Musa A. Sesay says since his ascension to leadership, the Federation has not received a dime from the government to support the game.

However, he says his dream is to decentralize handball in the 2021/2022 league.

Sesay emphasizes that decentralizing the game in at least six counties including Margibi, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Grand Bassa, Bong County and Nimba is also his dream.

He laments that Handball is being promoted thru personal pockets of individuals just for the love of the game by playing matches in few counties across Liberia, including Bomi, Margibi, and Montserrado on their own initiative.

He underscores a need for government to support and promote the game thru tournaments in schools across the country and at the national level.https://thenewdawnliberia.com/weah-breaks-ground-for-multi-purpose-php-unity-sports-park/ Editing by Jonathan Browne
