Hannieh Zoe Joins Former Ruling Party

A Liberian Presidential apsirantl, Mr. Hannieh Zoe, has formally joined the National Patriotic Party or NPP, as an active member. Mr. Zoe, who has harbored Presidential ambition since 2005, said he was joining the NPP because he regarded the party as a relevant political force in Liberia.

The Liberian Presidential hopeful spoke of his willingness to submit to the forthcoming convention of the NPP, in anticipation of securing the party’s standard bearer position. Mr. Zoe, in the presence of NPP Secretary General Andrew Peter and other party executives, described the NPP as a grass root political institution that has the potential of uniting all Liberians.

NPP’s National Chairman James Biney of Maryland county, welcomed Mr. Zoe to the party, saying said the NPP remains open to all Liberians committed to the political transformation of the country. Recently, Mr. Zoe addressed a news conference, claiming that President Sirleaf and her government provided insufficient support to education and decried poverty and the lack of access to healthcare services for the citizenry.

The Presidential Hopeful promised to end discrimination and create an environment that enables each Liberian and foreign residents to realize their dreams if elected. According to Mr. Zoe, Liberia has become the burden of the world, depending on foreign aid for survival.

He said his decision to contest the Liberian Presidency again was because he was very passionate about Liberia. The National Patriotic Party was once headed by Mr. Charles G. Taylor as its first Political Leader and Standard Bearer.–Edited by George Barpeen
