Heart attack to kill over million warns Dr. Johnson

The New Dawn Liberia The New Dawn LiberiaThe Chief Medical Officer of the John F. Kennedy Hospital in Sinkor, Monrovia Dr. Billy C. Johnson, has warned that over 1 million people globally risk death due to lack of proper nutrition.

He said adequate food and balanced nutrition build up the immune system to protect the body from any kind of harmful disease.

Speaking Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism on Capitol Hill, Monrovia at a regular press briefing, Dr. Johnson explained that in order to avoid heart attack, people should eat good and safe food that will strengthen the immune system to enable it fight diseases that enter the body.

He stressed that living in clean environment, drinking safe water and exercising,  among other things prevent disease from entering the human body.

The Liberian medical practitioner said that eating more food from soluble fiber like oats, kidney beans, chickpeas, including apples, strawberries, and oranges can also help to control blood sugar, insulin and cholesterol level, including vegetable fruits, which boost energy and fight body cancer, heart attack or any disease.

He warned that not eating enough insoluble fiber can cause constipation and indigestive problems to for the immune system, leading to headache, bloating, heartburn, sluggish nausea, and weight gain, because of toxic digested waste, which clog in the colon of the body.

Dr. Johnson strongly recommends that more leafy dark green vegetables should be eaten daily to enable the body resist cancer or any disease.

According to him, an easier way to destroying cancer is to eat more vegetables by preparing them in a delicious soup for eating to protect the immune system, adding that one should control their portion by eating only 1-2 serving of carbohydrates per meal, which is about 1cup of cooked rice roughly 25-50 grams of carbohydrates to help keep the blood sugar from triggering oxidative stress and inflammation.

He pointed out that in order to keep safe and be free from any kinds of illness, one should first practice relaxation and meditation for at least 15-30 minutes daily, saying, “A positive mind and a strong faith can heal any disease, and the more relaxation and meditation you get, the better you get from headache, and heart attack, especially on a stressful day, because stress weakens the body and makes it vulnerable to any kind of disease.”
