Heavy storm kills 2; over 1000 homeless

Heavy storm has reportedly killed two persons in Kokoyah Statutory District, Bong County in Central Liberia, and left over 1000 others homeless. One person was struck to death in a gold mining area known as David Dean Town, while the other victim died in Saywen Town, nearby.

Several other towns within Kokoyah were also affected by the storm. The NewDawn Bong County Correspondent who visited the area, said those affected are trying to re-roof their damaged structures or homes with almost anything they lay their hands on, including damaged zinc, even though they are yet to receive any assistance from government and humanitarian organizations.

The survivors, who include women and children, are being temporarily hosted by neighbors and relatives. They appeal to government and humanitarian organizations for assistance to enable them rebuild their lives.
According to them, they have lost several valuables including finances as a result of the heavy storm.
