High Hope for Huge Gold

Liberia may  become one of the leading Gold Mining Countries, if ongoing exploration in the South eastern region of the country is completed.  From all indications in Grand Gedeh and Sinoe Counties, samples collected show positive signs of huge deposit of Gold in the two Counties.

The disclosure was made recently by Tim Illingworth, Country Manager of HUMMINGBIRD Resources (Liberia) Inc., the company currently conducting explorations in the two counties. But Mr. Illingworth quickly told journalists in the southeast that the ongoing exploration work and laboratory results will hopefully confirm this claim.

Mr. Illingworth also disclosed that in an effort to buttress government’s poverty reduction, HUMMINGBIRD Resources has given employment to two hundred  local and community people as workers supporting its operations in Grand Gedeh and Sinoe, including its own professional and experienced Liberian who is currently drilling a rig.

More than 300 holes have been drilled by a contracted Australian company to help boost the exploration exercise since December of last year. The company has   been in the country since 2005, and continues to work closely with the various communities in the two counties to empower young miners by hiring their services on a contractor basis.

The HUMMINGBIRD Resources (Liberia) Inc. also praised Sinoe County Superintendent Milton TeahJay for his support and cooperation, noting that the county’s earth-moving equipment were being used for the completion of roads in the company’s operation areas to foster free movement. The company is also providing safe-drinking water and other basic social service in line with its corporate responsibilities.

HUMMINGBIRD’s presence in the area has transformed Money camp from three houses to a huge commercial town, and was also making progress in Joe Village, Tiehnpo, Plibo, Tawake, Gekeahn and Ke Towns.

The Hummingbird country manager further disclosed that negotiations were ongoing with the Government of liberia to secured the investment for 25 years, with the hope that such would be concluded soon so that his company can continue to invest heavily in the future of Liberia.
