Hospital staff arrested for rape

The maintenance officer of the Chief Jallah Medical Center in Bopolu District, Gbarpolu County, John Koloko, has been charged with rape and kidnapping by the Women and Children Protection Section of the Gbarpolu County Police Detachment.

He was formally charged last Tuesday, August 4, after medical examination report from the Chief Jallah Leone Medical Center confirmed that suspect Koloko used his fingers to penetrate the private part of a 12-year-old girl at his New Bopolu residence.

Defendant Koloko is being detained at the Bopolu Central Prison Compound, awaiting trial at the 16th Judicial Circuit Court in the county. In a complaint to the police the victim’s mother alleged that while search was ongoing in the community for her daughter, the minor was kidnapped and abused by suspect Koloko in his bedroom situated in New Bopolu community.

Madam Louis Jackson continued that she and other neighbors in the community asked Mr. Koloko about whereabouts of the little girl after information that he was spotted with the minor on the day of the incident, something that he denied.

The father of the victim identified as Mr. Fayah Jackson, who is a mechanist in Bopolu, promised to ensure that justice is done in the case because this was not the first time for suspect Koloko to be involved in such act.

He explained that few years ago, Koloko abused a 14 years old girl, who is mentally disarranged in the same Bopolu and impregnated her, adding that the case was compromised by the victim’s parents.
When contacted, the administrator of the Chief Jallah Leone Medical Center, Dr. Trokon Washington, declined to comment on grounds that he does not have details of the incident. By Our Correspondent in Gbarpolu
